The city of London is without a doubt one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. London is known for its several famous tourist attractions in all of Europe and the world. Part of what makes London very popular in other countries is because of the impact that it has had in pop culture. The city has always been the frequently selected location for key live events such as the Olympics, awards ceremonies and other integral international events. It has also been a setting for films both local and Hollywood.

Buckingham Palace

The official London residence and primary office of the Queen of England, the Buckingham Palace is a setting for royal hospitality and several official junctures by the state. The palace itself is the heart for the British people where they can celebrate together as a nation for historic events. London Eye

This giant Ferris wheel located on the South Bank of the River Thames is currently Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel with over 3.5 million tourists visiting on a yearly basis, also making it the most paid tourist attraction in all of United Kingdom. It is in here where tourists can enter the Ferris wheel’s passenger capsules that can hold up 25 people that was designed to give tourists a stunning wide view of the entire city. The tourists inside these capsules are free to navigate around it with ease, though seats are provided in the middle. As of 2008, over 30 million people had ridden the London Eye since its opening. Big Ben

The city’s clock tower that’s located at the north end of the Palace of Westminster, it has become one of the United Kingdom’s well-known icons and has constantly been used as an establishing shot on films set in London. It is the largest four-framing clock in the world as well as the third-tallest free-standing clock and one of the longest-standing clocks in the world at 154 years old. In 2012, Big Ben was renamed the Elizabeth Tower in part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in the West London area and is considered one of the Royal Parks of London, made famous for its Speaker’s Corner, where it is the one place people can immerse themselves in open-air public speaking, discussions and debates on any subjects. Other sites of interest in the park include a memorial for Princess Diana of Wales, the victims of the 2005 London bombings, an oval stone ring fountain and many more.

Westminster Abbey

A large Gothic church located in the City of Westminster, it is one of the most prominent religious buildings in the United Kingdom. The church is a time-honored place used in special national events such as a coronation and is also a burial site for English and, later on, British monarchs. The church has also held Royal Weddings 16 in total, the latest one being the marriage of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge to Miss Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge.
